Mountain from Game of Thrones World Strongest Man, Again!

Europe’s Strongest Man is an annual strength athletics competition which began in 1980. The event is held in various locations throughout Europe, and features exclusively European strongman competitors. Mariusz Pudzianowski currently holds the record for most wins with 6 titles. Zydrunas Savickas, Geoff Capes and Riku Kiri each hold 3 titles. As of 2010, the Europe’s Strongest Man contest has become a part of the Giants Live season of annual grand prix events. The contest serves as a qualifying event for the World’s Strongest Man contest, with the top 3 placings qualifying for that year’s WSM contest.

The Mountain from Game of Thrones (Hafþór Julius Bjornsson) competed in Europe’s Strongest Man on the 12th July 2015 in Leeds and defended his title which never looked in doubt. Thor not only retained his Europe’s Strongest Man title and became the winner of 2015, but set a personal best on the deadlift at an awesome 992.08 pounds (450kg).

On 31 January 2015, Björnsson beat a 1000-year-old record set by Orm Storolfsson at the World’s Strongest Viking competition in Norway, where he carried a 32 feet (9.8 m) long 1,433 pounds (650 kg) log for five steps.
